Get Your Updated Off Work Note

Illinois Workers’ Compensation law requires you to have an off work note to get paid while you cannot work.

The best way to do this is have your doctor’s office provided a written note explaining that you are off work and for how long.

Most doctors will provide a note until the next appointment. It can include a specific date or estimate the number of weeks.

Some doctors will write you off work completely or provide specific restrictions, such as one armed work only.

You should keep a copy of your note for your records, and provide a copy of the note to your insurance company adjuster and your human resources department.
