Depression

When you are injured and cannot work, depression is often a byproduct of everything else that is happening in your life. You can use all your conditions to prove disability. This means that if you have a back injury and problems with your hands and are depressed the cumulative effect of all your injuries may make you disabled.

However, with depression it is often not enough to claim you are disabled. It is also not enough to have your primary care doctor prescribe anti-depression medication and diagnose you with depression. You will probably need a specialist such as a psychiatrist or psychologist diagnose and treat you. These professionals can provide a more detailed description of your condition and explain your resulting limitations. You may also want to visit the Mental Health Association of Illinois website.
