Social Security Disability- What Do I Get?

Social Security provides two important benefits if you are found disabled.

Monthly payments for the extent of your disability.

Medical coverage.

The amount of your monthly payment is based on the number of years you have worked and the amount you have paid into the system through your payroll taxes.

The formula is complicated, but you can contact your local Social Security office and ask for an estimate of what amount you would have coming to you.

You are also entitled to medical coverage through Medicare if you are found disabled.

Medicare coverage starts approximately 3 years after your onset of disability.

This, of course, is a very important benefit.

Some people can be eligible for Medicaid immediately if they qualify financially.
