Nothing will bring back this young man. The only remedies the law provides is criminal and civil damages. $9 million is a lot of money but it does not replace a son, a friend, or a brother.

Heart breaking story. What is available to her? Lawsuit against shooter? No money you can get from the criminal. Not a workers’ compensation claim because she not on the job. She certainly qualifies for Social Security Disability because she can no longer work. But it is not very much money. She will get Medicaid and eventually Medicare for her medical needs, but it does not cover all expenses. All in all a depressing situation. Shows the law does not remedy all our needs, and that there is evil in the world.

Sounds incredible. Civil damages may be sought against the hotel, but it will take a lot of investigation to find out how this happened on her own. The hotel will be able to use the woman’s intoxication as a defense.
