Injured at Work! What to do?

Many courts and agencies in Illinois are closed due to the coronavirus.

However, if you are injured on the job there is good news.

You are still able to file claims with the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission.

You are also still able to settle your cases and get paid for a Work Comp settlement.

Do not let an insurance company take advantage of the pandemic and tell you that you cannot file a claim or get paid or get medical treatment or receive a settlement.

You still have your rights under Illinois law to medical treatment, off work pay, and a settlement payment.

What about healthcare workers who contract the virus? Are they able to claim compensation for resulting injuries? Illinois law would allow the injured healthcare worker to receive medical benefits and time off work pay. But the question is whether any permanent damage is suffered in order to receive the settlement.

Injured Union Workers Do Not listen to Bad Advice

Many people will give you advice and their opinion. However, it may be bad advice and damage you and your family.

If you are injured on the job do not hesitate to report it immediately.

Failure to report may fatally damage your case.

Report it to your supervisor and complete a written report of injury. Get a copy of everything you submit. You will never be sorry for having too much paperwork supporting your case.

Do not let the insurance company and your employer claim that you never reported your injury.

What is at stake?

Your medical treatment, your off work pay, and your work injury settlement.

Do not be the one who is left responsible for all your work comp treatment and left with no pay while off work, and without a work comp payment at the end of the case because you neglected to complete a written accident report.
