A prison in central Illinois has been placed on lockdown while state officials investigate the assault of six employees by five inmates.

Prison guards and workers may file Workers’ Compensation claims in Illinois for injuries they suffer as a result of inmate attacks. The damages may include payment of medical bills related to the assault, time off work pay, and permanent partial disability for the injury itself. Newly released documents contain allegations that the former coach knew of abuse long before 1998, the year an independent investigation reported Paterno first became aware of sexual assaults against minors. Testimony also indicates current college football assistant coaches Tom Bradley and Greg Schiano were also aware of Sandusky’s abuse.

Disgusting that so many adults and people in positions of power covered up sexual abuse for years. Those who were powerless and children suffered and still suffer as a result of this monster. Those who played a part in the cover up are also responsible. Shows the legal system helps address some of the problems but those in power continue to try to hide behind weak arguments and the passage of years.
