The past few weeks we have been looking at what influences the value of your Illinois Workers’ Compensation settlement.
The length of medical treatment is one of the factors that Arbitrators will review.
There is not always direct correlation between the length of treatment time and the value of settlement.
For instance, if you treat with a doctor for 1 to 2 years for a back strain then not much value will be added to your case.
However, if you undergo a series of conservative treatments for a back injury such as physical therapy, injections, and pain medications that fail and lead to the need for surgery with physical therapy to follow then you have a case with more value.
A longer recovery time after surgery with the potential need for future surgery will also add to the value of your case.
